Residential Class A Asbestos Removal Process
Safely removing friable (Class A) asbestos from your home.
Step
01Get In Touch… Get It Tested
Let us know how we can help.
We can usually provide a removal quote based on your measurements, photos or reports. It you need testing or a survey completed, we will book a prompt time with you that suits.
While we are on site for the testing, we will measure up in case the result is positive, so that we may give you a fast quote for the removal work.

04Getting Things Rolling
Once you've approved our quote, we'll issue you with a 50% deposit invoice.
If your removal is friable (Class A) this will require an online notification to WorkSafe. From the date the online notification is submitted there is a 5 day stand down period where we are not allowed to start work. This stand down period is mandatory across the industry and is outside of our control.
Considering the notification period, we'll discuss with you and schedule the job as you need. Whether this be asap, or to work in with other trades, we'll do what we can to minimize disruption to you.
An asbestos assessor is required for Class A work, and we will liaise with the tester to have them attend site at the correct stages, from the start of the project through to clearance.
A site file will be created which contains the Health & Safety documentation needed for asbestos removal. We will compile our Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) and the Asbestos Removal Control Plan (ARCP), all of which is available to you it you require.
Step
05Before Work Starts
If disconnection of lights or plumbing etc. is required, this would have been discussed with you at the time of quoting. Let us know if you need us to liaise with your tradesmen so the work can be programmed to run smoothly.
A day or so out trom our arrival is a good time to shitt contents. Not only do we work in the removal area, but our decontamination chambers and transit routes will also be established outside of the removal area so items in this vicinity will need to be moved. This will enable us to set up correctly, avoid cross contamination and avoid accidental breakages. Ask our friendly admin staff for advice if you are unsure of what you need to do.
Its likely you will need to move out while the removal is undertaken. If this is something we have discussed with you, you'll need to arrange your alternative accommodation before we start.
Step
06 On The DayOn The Day
Savy Enviro Services will attend site at the agreed time and establish the site. During our time on site, no unauthorised persons (or pets!) can be in the vicinity.
A toolbox meeting will be had between the staff and the plan communicated to the team.
For friable work site establishment includes setting up barriers (tape/fenc-ing), signage and a 4-stage decontamination unit as well as building an enclosure around the asbestos we are removing.
Once the removal area is set up, our supervisor will carry out a smoke test to ensure there are no leaks in the enclosure.
The asbestos assessor will attend to set up their air monitoring pumps which will run every day that removal is undertaken. This is called 'Control Monitoring' and the pumps placed at the NPU and at the entrance to the removal area will check that there are no fibres escaping from the enclosure during our work.
Once the asbestos removal has been completed, the tester will run 'Clearance Monitoring' where the pumps are placed inside the now clean enclosure and are run whilst no one is on site. This checks for any fibres left in the air.
They will undertake a comprehensive visual inspection and swabs of the surfaces.
Once the lab has confirmed to the tester that all swabs and air monitoring is clear, we will reattend site and pack down, removing our enclosure and equipment from the site.
When the enclosure and equipment is removed from site, the tester will attend once more to do a final visual inspection.
The tester will then give a confirmation of clearance, issuing their report shortly after (1-2 days depending on the company). At this point you will be able to move back into the property and continue with any other works.
We'll send you a same-day invoice via email once the work is complete and we will forward you the Clearance Report upon payment of our invoice.
